Massaya Arak is a premium Lebanese anise-flavored spirit, produced by the Massaya winery in the Bekaa Valley. It’s known for its traditional production methods, using local Obeidi grapes, green aniseed from Mount Hermon, and aging in clay amphorae. Massaya Arak is often enjoyed with mezze or as an aperitif and is considered a symbol of Lebanese hospitality. 

    • Ingredients:
      Massaya Arak is made from Obeidi grapes, a local Lebanese variety, and organic green aniseed from the slopes of Mount Hermon. 

    • Production:
      The process involves a triple distillation in copper stills, heated by vine wood fires, followed by maceration with aniseed. 

  • Aging:
    After distillation, the arak is aged for two years in traditional clay amphorae, which impart a subtle color and mature the spirit. 

  • Serving:
    Massaya Arak is traditionally served with water and ice, allowing the anise flavor to bloom. It’s often paired with mezze dishes or enjoyed as an aperitif.
